OHBM Membership Policy

One Hundred Black Men, Inc.

New York Chapter

MEMBERSHIP POLICY

- Open to men age 21 or older.

- Candidates have to be of the highest integrity with firm commitment to the organization’s mission and goals.

- Candidates must be sponsored by an existing member with good financial standing via a letter of recommendation. 

- Candidates must submit a fully completed application supplemented with a bio of one page or less.

MEMBERSHIP PROCESS


New Members

- Application packets should be sent to address of OHBM, 105 E. 22nd Street, New York, New York 10010. Membership committee interview will be scheduled several times per year for prospective candidates.

 

- Candidates (as a group) will be presented to a General Membership Meeting for introductory and informational purposes prior to their acceptance. This slate of candidates will be presented to the BOD for approval upon completion of all requirements.

 

- Candidates accepted for membership will be notified in writing by the President.

 

-Upon acceptance, new members will be welcomed at the next General Membership Meeting. The formal pinning ceremony will take place at the annual Founders Day program.

 

 

 

 

Former Members 
Former members of the chapter in non-financial status for 2 years or less may rejoin the organization by doing the following:
1) Submit an updated application with payment for current year dues and one time fee of $100.00
2) Committing to joining and actively participating on at least one standing committee of the OHBM for one year
Former members in non-financial status for more than 2 years must meet the requirements of a new member as described in that section unless waived by the President
