Caring for Our Community & Feeding the Undeserved

CITY-WIDE HOLIDAY PROGRAM

The Founding Chapter of OHBM is strongly committed to helping families living in poverty experience a happier and healthier holiday season. The Citywide Holiday Program is the cornerstone of our poverty eradication agenda. Since its inception in 2013, OHBM, with the support of corporate sponsors Mt. Sinai Hospital, Macy’s, Walmart (primary partner since 2013), Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY) and Lyft have provided nutritious food baskets to over 40,000 New Yorkers during the holiday season.

This year, OHBM was pleased to contribute $50,000 to help New York City churches and institutions provide meals for New Yorkers between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Partner churches included Abyssinian Baptist Church, Salem Methodist United Church, Canaan Baptist Church in Harlem and the National Action Network in Harlem; Epworth United Methodist Church, Greater Holy Tabernacle and Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church in the Bronx; Cornerstone Baptist and House of the Lord Churches in Brooklyn; First Baptist Church of East Elmhurst in Queens and Mt. Sinai Church in Staten Island.

“The president, board and members of the One Hundred Black Men hold themselves accountable for changing the narrative and outcomes for underserved people in our City. The Citywide Hunger Relief Program, coordinated by our Health & Wellness Committee, is one of the most meaningful initiatives that the One Hundred is involved in.”
