CITY WIDE HOLIDAY PROGRAM
“The Founding Chapter of OHBM is strongly committed to helping families living in poverty experience a happier and healthier holiday season. We are pleased to work alongside corporate sponsors Walmart, Macy’s, Emblem, Mt. Sinai, REBNY and Lyft on such an impactful community service effort. The Citywide Hunger Relief Program is the cornerstone of our poverty eradication agenda.”
Michael J. Garner, MBA
Past President
One Hundred Black Men, Inc.
The Founding Chapter of One Hundred Black Men (OHBM) with the support of corporate sponsors Mt. Sinai Hospital, Macy’s, Walmart, Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY) and Lyft provided food baskets to 10,000 New Yorkers during the 2018 Holiday Season. Walmart has been a primary partner of this Program since its inception in 2013. Since that time, over 40,000 New Yorkers have enjoyed nutritious meals during the holiday season.
This year, OHBM was pleased to contribute $50,000 to help New York City churches and institutions provide meals for New Yorkers between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Partner churches included Abyssinian Baptist Church, Salem Methodist United Church, Canaan Baptist Church in Harlem and the National Action Network in Harlem; Epworth United Methodist Church, Greater Holy Tabernacle and Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church in the Bronx; Cornerstone Baptist and House of the Lord Churches in Brooklyn; First Baptist Church of East Elmhurst in Queens and Mt. Sinai Church in Staten Island.
